如何有效與外國人協商(下)

上一篇筆者提到,與外國人協商時,有五類常用的英語句式。今期續談其餘三項。

)Expounding ideas(闡述想法):提出建議後,需要更多的論據,去支持閣下的建議為何可行。

以下是一些經常會使用的句式。
The reason behind this is to……:例如:「The reason behind this is to broaden the consumer base which would be beneficial to long-term sustainable development.」
I am basing my ideas on……:例如:「I am basing my ideas on an experiment carried out a few months ago.」

Considering/In light of/With a view to:例如:「Considering the current situation, it is believed that this proposal would be a win-win situation for us.」

保持禮儀語句

)Disagreeing(反對):即使對方的提案未能吸引到你,或者你並不滿意,也不應該直接將「I don’t like your idea」衝口而出,而是應該保持禮儀。

不妨參考一下以下句式:
例如:「I am afraid I can’t agree with you on this.」

例如:「Unfortunately, we don’t share the same view on this.」
例如:「Though your proposal is very detailed, it is still not comprehensive enough to cater for our needs.」

Compromising各退一步

)Compromising(妥協):協商時難免會出現雙方互不讓步的情況,這時候最有效的解決方法,就是各退一步。

In exchange for xxx, could you yyy:例如:「In exchange for a higher discount rate, could you offer us more internship opportunities?」

We’d love to xxx, but we will yyy:例如:
「We’d love to have a higher sponsorship amount, but we will accept the current amount offered.」
While we would xxx, could you yyy:例如:「While we would cut the shipping fees, could you do more to advertise our products?」
